As we worked through the addition and subtraction unit, it
was clear that we needed to spend time looking at word problems; specifically
how to determine what operation to use, and what information is important to
the question being asked. This week we
discussed key words in word problems. This is a great visual I found on line that is very similar to the one we used in class.
We
also discussed the steps involved when attacking a word problem.
We will be revisiting this topic throughout the year, but
will now be moving on to look at telling time to the minute and working with
elapsed time.
